If you are a Lindy Hopper or Boogie-dancer and you’re visiting Oslo, be sure to look us up!
In the summertime we have our social dance outdoors on Aker Brygge – the city’s beautiful boardwalks, overlooking the fjord, city hall and Akershus castle. You can come join us every Tuesday in June and August, between 19:30 and 21:30. We dance on Pier 256, right by the entrance of the boardwalks and across the street from McDonalds.
If foiled by the weather, we’ll stay inside at Bårdar Danseinstitutt.

Pier 256, more colloquially referred to as "across the street from McDonalds", is the site of the sunny summer dances
The rest of the year, we dance indoors, at Bårdar Danseinstitutt. The social dance is on Tuesdays from 20:30 to 22:15.
The address is: Bårdar Danseinstitutt, Kristian Augusts gate 15, 0164 Oslo. Admission is 60 NOK.
When you arrive at Oslo Airport Gardermoen, take the airport express train to Oslo central station. When exiting Oslo central station, you will find yourself at Jernbanetorget – the city’s main public transit nexus. From there, you can take the tram as described below.
Jernbanetorget, right outside Oslo central station, is the main transit interchange and starting point for most adventurers in Oslo. To get to Bårdar Danseinstitutt, find the stop marked «F». From there, you can take tram lines 11, 17 or 18. Get off at «Tullinløkka», and you’ll find yourself five meters from the entrance to Bårdar!
Tickets for the tram can be bought on board, or slightly cheaper at any kiosk in the central station.
Bårdar Danseinstitutt is situated in the heart of Oslo, a ten minute walk from Oslo central station («Oslo S»), or two minutes from the National Theatre («Nationaltheatret»). With a map of the city or a GPS unit, finding us shouldn’t be a problem. The street address is «Kristian Augusts gate 15″, right next to the tram stop «Tullinløkka».
This is a difficult one. The tricky part is to find a parking space on friday night and saturday morning. The safest, but most expensive alternative must be the parking house a few hundred meters from the dance studio.
I guess most of the people needing this description comes from Europe or Sweden by either E6 or E18.
Just south of the city, these roads will merge for a little while and then split up again. When they split up, keep with E18. You will soon see the city.
When you’re almost in the city you will see a sign for “Rv 4 Gjøvik” or “Ring 1″. You must cross several lanes in a very short distance to get to the rightmost one. This lane will take you up one level to a roundabout.
Take to the right in this roundabout and stay in the right lane.
After 4-500 meters you will turn to the right again. You are now driving around the bus terminal.
Now you should get to a small roundabaout. Take to the right and get to tthe left lane.
Go straight through the next roundabout (still in the left lane)
In the next roundabout, take slightly to the right down into a tunnel. There should be a white sign saying “Ring 1″
In the second tunnel, you will find a sign for the parking house called “Ibsen Parkeringshus”
